If we offer you a job, you must sign an agreement to our terms of employment and participate in a pre-employment drug screening after your arrival in Ketchikan. Because of our location, replacement of employees is expensive. Completion of the entire season is absolutely mandatory and will make you eligible for a bonus given at the end of the season.

FINANCES:

Employees must pay their own way to get to Ketchikan and back home again. For those not living nearby, this can be a major expense. There are no roads connecting with Southeast Alaska; you must either fly or use the Alaska Marine Highway (Ferry) and reservations must be made well in advance.

Clover Pass Resort is located 15 miles from downtown Ketchikan, on the north end of the island. The distance from Ketchikan gives us a “remote” feeling, while still providing access to Ketchikan and its attractions. Being in a remote location is not for everyone and it takes a self-motivated, independent person to succeed in our work environment. There are no stores within walking distance of the resort; however, limited transportation is available to and from town, subject to the schedule of our company van. For this reason we recommend bringing a vehicle with you for the summer.

Wages for all employees at Clover Pass Resort will start at $2000 per month plus bonuses and at the completion of the season all will be eligible for an end of season company bonus based on successful completion of your work schedule. It is suggested that each employee have a banking account (checking) before coming to the resort. We offer direct deposit for employees and pay is administered bi-weekly. There is no necessity to spend money while at Clover Pass Resort and many employees are able to save most of their net pay. However, applicants should carefully evaluate their finances over the season to be certain their financial goals will be met.

EMPLOYEE HOUSING AND FACILITIES:

Meals and lodging are provided while you are at Clover Pass Resort. Meals are good and plentiful, but we cannot accommodate special diets.

Provided housing is adequate, but modest and you will be rooming with other staff members. It is absolutely necessary for employees to keep their rooms clean and picked-up because space is limited and there is little privacy. Management will be making periodic inspections of employee’s rooms. Blankets, linens, pillows and towels are provided for each room. Laundry facilities are available; however, employees are responsible for their own laundry. Fire or theft insurance is not provided for personal property housed on our premises. If you wish to have coverage for your belongings, you should check with your own insurance carrier. Non-employees are not permitted in employee accommodations without prior management approval. Accommodations for married couples are limited. No children are accommodated.

UNIFORMS AND CLOTHING:

Summers in Alaska are moderate and seldom exceed 70 degrees. Usually the temperature is between 60 and 65 degrees dipping down into the 50’s occasionally. The average rainfall in Ketchikan is about 13 feet, so to say that it rains frequently might be an understatement. Company shirts and or sweatshirts will be provided at reduced costs and are to be worn whenever you are working. In addition we suggest that you bring jeans, black and khaki slacks, sweaters, a warm jacket, sturdy shoes, hiking boots, tennis shoes, and rain gear. Rain gear is provided for while you are working on the dock, but you should bring rubber boots to work in and rain gear to wear on your personal time.

RECREATION AND ENTERTAINMENT:

Whether you like to fish, hike, and boat, sightsee, or look for wildlife, Ketchikan has many options to choose from and will keep you busy on your days off. We value our employees and wish for them to enjoy their summer experience with us. We offer free accommodations, meals and skiff rentals to our employees along with discounts on accommodations for immediate family members of employees. If you are a first year employee with us your immediate family members will enjoy a 50% discount on their fishing trip to Clover Pass Resort and may be eligible for a free fishing trip with us in your second year working with us.

All employees must agree to and are subject to the regulations of Clover Pass Resort. Your success with Clover Pass Resort depends on your ability to fully cooperate with your fellow team members and with management. The use or possession of illegal drugs will result in immediate dismissal. Alcohol consumption on the property of Clover Pass Resort is prohibited. Firearms are not permitted.
